Refuge was partly inspired by a Sherwin Williams paint color of the same name. My wife and mother-in-law graciously offered to paint my studio. I asked them to pick out an inspiring color. That night, I wrote this song while staring at the beautiful color painted on the walls. I thought, "how lucky am I to have a family that loves, cares for, and supports me". It made me feel remarkably grateful to have married an amazing person and to have been welcomed into her family. My family is my refuge and I am reminded of that every time I play this song.
